Celebrating Five Years of Ready Set Declutter

Five years.

That number feels strange to type, mostly because when Ready Set Declutter began,

I hadn't thought about longevity or milestones or where this would lead. I was just trying to help people feel better in their homes, because I knew firsthand how much our spaces can affect our mental and emotional wellbeing.

Back then, I didn’t have a grand plan. I didn’t have everything figured out. I just had this quiet pull that organizing could be more about relief than it was bins. More about peace than picture perfect. I knew organizing was bout giving people space to breathe again.

And that belief has only deepened over time.

Over the last five years, I’ve walked into homes during some of the most vulnerable moments of people’s lives. Most of my clients trusted me during seasons of transition, grief, burnout, new beginnings, and overwhelm that felt too big to name out loud. And time and time again, I’ve watched how powerful those transformations can be. That’s what Ready Set Declutter has always been about.

If there’s one thing these five years have taught me, it’s that clutter is rarely just about stuff. I shared a bit about it in my last blog posts because I've found that clutter is almost always about decision fatigue, or the emotional weight. and trauma stored in objects.

Ready Set Declutter today looks different than it did five years ago. The logo/branding has changed. The services have evolved. The offerings have expanded. But the core has stayed the same.

I believe homes should support mental wellness.

I believe organizing should feel compassionate, not shaming.

I believe there is nothing wrong with needing help.

I believe decluttering and organizing can actually improve lives.
